Srinagar to Delhi 26 hours riding 1000 kms

With the original plan was to go from Srinagar to Jammu – we decided to push ourselves to delhi which is a good ONE THOUSAND kms from Srinagar. (Gurgaon to be specific). We had already done 21 hours of constant riding from Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh to Guwahati back in September 11, which was the toughest road by far that we have ever driven on! Yet, 1000 kms seemed too much but I guess everyone was internally driven to prove their mettle. We reached Jammu at 9:30 in the night and were greeted by a Jammu based bullet group called Iron Hawks. Dinner continued till 12 in the night at a Jammu highway dhaba and we continued onward to Delhi.

At a particular fuel pump in Jammu, the group split – 3 of us stopped for fuel and 4 of us went ahead. Of the 4, I unfortunately went way ahead and 3 of them split. We somehow couldn’t coordinate for some strange reason. We had 3 groups now riding – I was alone in the front, Neeraj and Panda some 100 kms behind me, balance 4 some 200 kms behind me.The road to Delhi was probably the most confusing; fortunately I had the Lumia 800 and Nokia drive to guide me all along. Crossing Pathankhot, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ambala, I eventually reached Gurgaon some 26 hours and 1000 kms since my last night stay. Feeling happy about stretching myself for 1000 kms and riding for 26 hours with no night halts I went to my friend place in Gurgaon and crashed in his bed like there was no tomorrow. With our bikes requiring immediate servicing, we had to stay over for one extra day in Delhi.
